Black & White Training llc., founded in 2000, is one of New York's leading Security Guard Training schools.

Our main function here at Black & White Training llc. is to train and assist individuals interested in employment in the security fields.

With facilities located in Brooklyn & Queens our instructors are dedicated to ensuring you receive the best possible training available. We welcomes individuals over the age of 18 to participate in our training courses.

8 Hour Pre-Assignment Course

This is an 8-hour course required by New York State as the first step in obtaining a security guard registration card from the NYS Department of State. The course provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. Topics covered in this course includes the role of the security guard, legal powers & limitations, emergency situations, communications & public relations, access control and ethics & conduct. The passing of an examination is required for successful completion of this course.


16 Hour On-The-Job Training


This is a 16 hour course that must be completed within 90 days of employment as a security guard. The course provides the student with detailed information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. Topics covered in this course includes the role of the security guard, legal powers & limitations, emergency situations, communications & public relations, access control, ethics & conduct, incident command system and terrorism. The passing of an examination is required for successful completion of this course.


8 Hour Annual In-Service Training

This is an 8-hour course that must be completed within 12 calendar months from completion of the 16 Hour on-the job training course for security guards, and annually thereafter. The course is structured to provide the student with updated and enhanced information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard.Topics covered in this course includes the role of the security guard, legal powers & limitations, emergency situations, communications & public relations, access control and ethics & conduct.


FireGuard Prep Courses
F01, F02, F03, F04, F80 and S60

The S-60 Certificate of Fitness is required for a watch person at any construction site having a footprint of between 5,000 square feet and 40,000 square feet. The watchperson must be on duty at the site during all hours when operations are not in progress.
An F-02 Certificate of Fitness is required by all Fire Guards in shelters where a sprinkler system is not installed or when a fire protection system is temporarily out of service.
An individual responsible for assisting in maintaining fire safety at temporary place of assembly events at different locations is required to hold a F-03/F-04 Certificate of Fitness.

DHS 40 Hour LL 124 Security Guard Training for shelters

All guards employed as Shelter Guards shall receive 40 hours of paid training within 120 days of hire. The content of such training, provided that it shall include
(i) techniques for interactions with individuals experiencing homelessness and those individuals in a mental health emergency or crisis;
(ii) sexual harassment prevention; and
(iii) training on best practices for improving interactions between shelter employees and clients of the department. Such trainings shall include techniques to improve professionalism, increase cultural sensitivity, de-escalate conflict, and use trauma-informed theory.
The trainings required under this section shall be in addition to the minimum training required under article 7-A of the general business law.

This is a 40 hour course that must be completed within 120 days of employment as a security guard.

Refund Policy

All Students will be entitled to a 100% refund at any time prior to the start of instruction. In the event of a 16 hour OJT course, the students will be entitled to a 100% refund prior to the start of instruction and, if the student cancels following the start of the first 8 hour, but before the start of the second 8 hour block of instruction, the student will be entitled to a 50% refund. Further, the security guard training school cannot assess any cancellation fees.

Attendance Policy

100% Attendance is required for successful completion of any course, i.e all 5 day or 2 day programs must be completed during the same week!
